Love Thy Neighbour Presents

Triptych VIII returns to Brighton at The Hope & Ruin on Thursday 16th January! Get tickets above, or from SeeTickets.

Triptych consists of three nights, each featuring three of our favourite bands and each accompanied by a lathe-cut vinyl release, one for each night, limited to 15 copies each.

Van Zon: Formed in June 2023, Van Zon have been carving a space for their very own brand of folk-tinged experimental post rock in Brighton. With versatile multi-instrumentalists playing over the ethereal timbres of electronic drones, they “possess an endless impressive ability to adapt their sound to stunning results”.
After just five months of capturing audiences and firmly establishing themselves on the Brighton and London live circuit, they sold out their first headline show at the legendary venue, Green Door Store.

Reflective of their multifaceted sound, Van Zon have supported bands performing across a plethora of genres; The New Eves, Man/Woman/Chainsaw, Shovel Dance Collective, Ditz and SANAM. After two enthusiastically received So Young shows, they have also caught the attention of the music magazine with their unconventional approach to song structure, composition and genre fusion.

+ Big Long Sun: the big long sun is rising (and falling)
big long noise and big long feelings they make confusing, exciting music
they make music for dancers and dreamers.

+ Charlie Keen’s Silver Birch: Chalie keen is a talented multi instrumentalist. Inspired by John Martyn, Anthony Braxton, Ravel and the philosophy of Kenny Werner, Charlie Keen’s Silver Birch explores nostalgia and loss with a graceful suspense and introspective resonance. A sort of punctuated meditative state – the sonorous drones of the Shruti box and mournful ambient synth create a reminiscent backcloth to his trombone compositions. At times alarming, at others heartbreakingly sombre and yet somehow never without an enlivening joy, Keens’ trombone playing takes centre stage after years of playing with and for other people including- Keg, Terry Pack’s Tree’s, Skydaddy and Squid.
