Love Thy Neighbour Presents:

Balderdasch

London-based artist Balderdasch, originally from Cork, is carving out a unique niche with her experimental pop sound. Her upcoming debut EP promises a captivating blend of electric guitar, off-kilter samples, and intricate lyricism. Within these arrangements, Balderdasch explores themes of grief, queerness, and nightlife with a darkly humored slant.

Over the past two years, Balderdasch has tentatively released a series of singles, garnering attention and consistent support from BBC Introducing London. She has also been featured on Nialler9’s best new Irish music playlists and received radio play from BBC Radio 6’s Tom Robinson, who described her work as “elliptical oddness.”

Balderdasch, over the past year, has been steadily developing an impressive live set. Her debut EU performance at Rotterdam’s Left of the Dial Festival last October garnered acclaim, with Belgian reviewer Luminous Dash describing the set as “avant-garde reimagined.” On stage, she is supported by her two bandmates, whom she affectionately refers to as her “women in STEM.” Her band performs on synths and laptops while dressed in secretarial shirts and beaded ties, with Balderdasch herself flitting between distorted guitar playing and striking hotel bells in her performance art-tinged sets. She has recently supported French artist LuckyLove at Village Underground.

Her forthcoming EP was co-produced with esteemed saxophonist and longtime collaborator Pete Wareham. Balderdasch’s debut six-track EP, centered around the theme of endings, is scheduled for release this September. The first single, “If not there, then where?,” is set to be released on May 24th. https://balderdasch.bandcamp.c…
